CIBIL Score Check Free Online by PAN Number: Step-by-Step
Your PAN finds your credit file. Your OTP proves it's yours. Any site that skips the second step is a warning.
A CIBIL score check free online by PAN number works on cibil.com: you enter your PAN, name, date of birth and mobile number, then confirm an OTP sent to that phone. The PAN finds your credit file. The OTP proves it's yours. You get one free CIBIL report a year, and checking never lowers your score.
Key TakeawaysBureaus use your PAN to find your credit file, then verify you with an OTP before showing it (cibil.com).Each RBI-registered bureau gives you one free full credit report a year, so a paid "PAN check" is never needed for that (RBI).Since 2024, bureaus must alert you by SMS or email when a lender pulls your report (RBI).A site that shows anyone's score from a PAN alone, with no OTP, is a privacy risk, not a shortcut.

PAN to find the file, OTP to prove it's you.
How Does a CIBIL Score Check Free Online by PAN Number Work?
Here's how to check CIBIL score by PAN card on the official TransUnion CIBIL site, as of October 2026:
- Go to cibil.com and choose the free CIBIL score option.
- Enter your name exactly as it appears on your PAN card, plus your email and mobile number.
- Pick PAN as your ID type and type in the 10-character number.
- Add your date of birth, gender and address.
- Verify the OTP sent to your mobile. You may also answer a few questions about your loans.
- Skip the paid plans and claim the free annual report.
Once you're verified, your score and full report open on your dashboard. The report is free once each calendar year under the RBI's credit information rules (2025). For the other bureaus and how they compare, see our free credit score check guide.
A small but common snag: the name. If your PAN says "Ramesh K Sharma" and you type "Ramesh Kumar Sharma", the match can fail. Copy the PAN spelling exactly.
Why Is an OTP Needed for a PAN Card CIBIL Check?
Because a PAN isn't a secret. It sits on rent agreements, salary slips, hotel registers and photocopies across the country. If a PAN alone opened a credit report, anyone holding that photocopy could read your entire borrowing life.
The OTP closes that gap. It goes only to a mobile number, usually the one already linked to your loans. A bureau releases your report to you, or to a lender you've applied to, and to nobody else.
So when a site offers a CIBIL score check with PAN card details and no OTP, ask what it's verifying. Usually, nothing.

"Without OTP" is the warning sign, not the feature.
Searches for "check CIBIL score by PAN card without OTP" are common. Here's the honest answer: a legitimate bureau or app won't do it, because it would break the rule that your report belongs to you.
Is It Safe to Enter Your PAN on Credit Score Sites?
On the right sites, yes. On the wrong ones, your PAN becomes raw material for fraud. Run any site through this quick check before you type a single digit.
| Genuine check | Warning sign |
|---|---|
| Asks for PAN, name, date of birth and mobile | Shows a score from PAN alone |
| Sends the OTP to your own phone | Asks you to read an OTP aloud to a caller |
| Explains that your own check is a soft enquiry | Charges a fee for your free annual report |
| Links a privacy policy | Has no company name or address you can find |

Same first box, very different second step.
What happens if a PAN lands with the wrong people? The typical misuse is a loan or card opened in your name, often through an unregulated app. You find out when an EMI reminder arrives, or when your own loan is rejected. That's why it's worth taking a minute to check your active loans on your report every few months.
GroScore is a free credit score app and personal credit coach from Vitrak Technologies (GroMo). It shows your Equifax credit score and full report with a soft check that never affects your score, explains in Hindi or English what is holding the score back, and gives a step-by-step plan to fix it. GroScore is not a lender. It asks for your PAN and an OTP for the same reason a bureau does, and the number it shows is your Equifax score, not your CIBIL score. Inside the app, you get alerts for a new enquiry or possible fraud (groscore.in).

What to Do If Someone Misuses Your PAN
Act fast, and in order. Here's an illustrative example of how Arjun, GroScore's credit coach, would walk someone through it.
Sameer, 34, gets an SMS that a lender he's never heard of has pulled his credit report. Under the RBI's credit information rules (2025), bureaus must send exactly this kind of alert when a lender accesses your report. His first move is a free CIBIL report download, so he can see exactly what the lender saw.
| Day | What Sameer does | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Downloads his full report | Confirms the enquiry and checks for new accounts |
| Day 1 | Finds an unknown Rs 20,000 loan, raises a dispute | Errors can be disputed with the bureau |
| Day 1 | Reports it at cybercrime.gov.in or on 1930 | Creates an official fraud record |
| Day 31 onward | Claims compensation if still unresolved | RBI sets Rs 100 a day after 30 days |

Illustrative: what to do in the first 24 hours after a surprise enquiry alert.
The compensation rule comes from the same RBI framework. If a credit institution or bureau doesn't resolve your complaint within 30 days, you're entitled to Rs 100 for each day of delay (RBI). Suppose Sameer's complaint is resolved on day 40. That's 10 days late, so 10 × Rs 100 = Rs 1,000. The figure is illustrative; the rule isn't.
Two honest limits. Only a genuine error can be removed, though errors aren't rare: GroScore says about 1 in 5 reports, or 20%, carries one (groscore.in, retrieved 2026-10-05). And if the loan really is his, no dispute or "CIBIL repair" agency can delete it.
Disputes have their own steps by bureau, set out in our guide to a CIBIL dispute.
Why Does My PAN Show No Credit Score?
A blank pan card CIBIL score result usually means one of four things:
- No credit history. If you've never had a loan or card, the bureau has nothing to score. You'll see "NH" or "-1". That isn't a bad score.
- Very new credit. A first card a few weeks old may not have enough history yet.
- A details mismatch. Your loans might be filed under a slightly different name or an old mobile number.
- Loans under another ID. An older loan might carry a different ID if PAN wasn't recorded.
For the first two, time and on-time payments fix it. For the last two, check what's on file and correct it with the bureau.
A blank file isn't proof that nobody misused your PAN. Recheck later, especially if you get an enquiry alert.
Can You Check Someone Else's CIBIL Score by PAN?
No, not legitimately. A CIBIL score check by PAN number works only for your own PAN. A credit report goes to the person it describes, or to a lender assessing that person's application. Your spouse, a friend, an employer or a landlord can't pull your report from your PAN without you.
If they need it, you can download your own report and choose to share it. That keeps you in control of what goes where.
Any website that offers to show "any person's CIBIL score with just a PAN number" is either lying or doing something it shouldn't. Neither is a site you want your own PAN on.
You'll also see a pan card credit score check offered inside many apps. Before you pick one, read our credit score apps compared guide, which looks at what each asks for and which bureau it shows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I check my CIBIL score with only my PAN card?
You need your PAN plus your name, date of birth and the mobile number for the OTP. The PAN finds your file; the OTP confirms you're its owner. A site needing only the PAN isn't verifying who you are.
Can I check a CIBIL score without OTP?
Not on a legitimate bureau or app. The OTP is how a bureau confirms the report belongs to you. Sites that skip it can show, or collect, anyone's data, which is exactly the misuse the check is there to stop.
Is it safe to enter my PAN on credit score sites?
Yes, on the official bureau sites and known apps that send an OTP, explain the soft enquiry and publish a privacy policy. Avoid sites with no company details, PAN-only checks or fees for your free annual report.
Can I check someone else's CIBIL score by PAN?
No. Only you, or a lender you've applied to, can access your report. If a family member needs to see it, download it yourself and share it by choice.
Why does my PAN show no credit score?
Usually because there's no credit history yet ("NH" or "-1"), the credit is very new, or your details on file don't match what you typed. It isn't a bad score; it means there's nothing to score yet.
